Reception Class Starters 2023

Welcome to St Augustine's School...

I am delighted that you have been successful in being allocated a place for your child to join our school family in September 2023. I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your child from everyone at St Augustine's Catholic Primary School.

The Reception year is a very special one indeed. It marks the first formal year of education for your child and the Early Years curriculum is specifically designed to allow your child to develop a thirst for learning which will serve them for their entire life. Transitioning into this first year at school is important not only for your child but also for you as parents/carers.

This is one of our favourite times of the year, getting to meet you and your lovely children and starting their school journey with you. Our induction usually begins with an information meeting where you would meet our staff and we would share useful information with you about your child starting school. Unfortunately, this year it will sadly have to be a little different and we may have to wait a little longer to meet face to face.

Please be reassured that all our staff will do everything that we can to ensure that the transition into our school runs as smoothly as possible for everyone. As a starting point, I have set up this new page on our school website, dedicated to sharing information with the families of our new starters for 2023. A Welcome Pack with some of the information included on this page as well as forms for you to complete and return before your child starts school will be sent to you.

Please click on this link to go to our Induction Video Gallery:

On this page, you will find information that would normally be shared with you in our information meeting including useful videos that will help you to support your child in their transition to starting school and help you to feel prepared for this new adventure in their lives.

We will be contacting your child's nursery to request information about them and hopefully organise visits to see your child there. Information regarding our induction mornings in July and how we plan to phase the children into school in September has been sent to you via email. We will also contact you to find out more about your child and to hopefully arrange a visit to see you all at home.

In the meantime, please share some of the videos, information and activities on these pages with your child to help support them with their transition to school.

Also, please browse through the other pages on our school website to find out more about our school and  community.

I look forward to meeting with you all soon. Until then, stay safe and take care.

Yours sincerely,

John Entwistle

(Headteacher)
